DATA-

MANAGEMENT

AND ANALYTICS

Data management is the practice of collecting, keeping, and using data securely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. The goal of data management is to help people, organizations, and connected things optimize the use of data within the bounds of policy and regulation so that they can make decisions and take actions that maximize the benefit to the organization. A robust data management strategy is becoming more important than ever as organizations increasingly rely on intangible assets to create value.

Managing digital data in an organization involves a broad range of tasks, policies, procedures, and practices. The work of data management has a wide scope, covering factors such as how to:

  • Create, access, and update data across a diverse data tier

  • Store data across multiple clouds and on premises

  • Provide high availability and disaster recovery

  • Use data in a growing variety of apps, analytics, and algorithms

  • Ensure data privacy and security

  • Archive and destroy data in accordance with retention schedules and compliance requirements

A formal data management strategy addresses the activity of users and administrators, the capabilities of data management technologies, the demands of regulatory requirements, and the needs of the organization to obtain value from its data.

AUTOMATED

DATA-INTEGRATION

What is data automation?

Data automation is the process of updating data on your open data portal programmatically, rather than manually. Automating the process of data uploading is important for the long-term sustainability of your open data program. Any data that is updated manually risks being delayed because it is one more task an individual has to do as part of the rest of their workload. There are three common elements to data automation:

Extract, Transform, and Load, or ETL.

  • Extract: the process of extracting your data from one or more source systems

  • Transform: the process of transforming your data into the necessary structure, such as a flat file format like a CSV. This could also include things like changing all state abbreviations to the full state name.

  • Load: the process of loading the data into the final system, in this case the open data portal.

MULTI-CLOUD
ACCELERATION

Overview

Multi cloud is a cloud approach made up of more than 1 cloud service, from more than 1 cloud vendor—public or private.

For example, your enterprise invests in expanding a cloud infrastructure. You've moved from bare-metal servers to virtualization-based workloads, and now you're evaluating public cloud options—not for everything, but to support a specific customer-facing application with highly variable use rates. After some research, you find the public cloud provider that has the right blend of service-level agreements (SLA's), security protocols, and uptime to host your custom application. You’re happy with your choice. But eventually, customers start asking for features that are only available through a different vendor’s proprietary app. Integrating these features into your custom app requires that you not only purchase the vendor’s app, but also host the app in that vendor’s proprietary public cloud—a solution that allows both apps to scale with demand.

Achieving Growth

What is a Google Enterprise account?

A managed Google Play Accounts enterprise is a set of user, device, and administrator accounts used to organize managed Google Play apps for your users. You can create multiple managed Google Play Accounts in enterprises—say for different departments or regions within your organization.
